You will want to set your target at the desired yardage, and 40 yards is a good start and is widely used in the industry to compare results. Make sure you have a good stance or rest so you get accurate data. The point of aim (POI) of the shotgun is important to recognize, as it can be affected by the gun, stance, shooter, choke, or load.
