The June Bearer is an improved version of the Everest variety, offering several advantages. It is easier to grow, produces higher yields, and is less sensitive to the warm summer temperatures that can shut down day-neutral production in the East and Midwest regions. The berries have an attractive red color, good flavor, and maintain a desirable size. In our fruiting trials, the Honeoye variety produced the largest spring crop among all the day-neutral varieties we have tested to date.

You will receive healthy bare-root plants, and we always send extra plants to ensure your complete satisfaction. You can expect to see growth within 3 days of planting. The most important aspect of planting these strawberry plants is to make sure the soil contains at least 30% sand, which must be thoroughly mixed in.

Strawberry plants require three key elements for successful growth:

  1. The soil must be well-draining, with at least 30% sand mixed in thoroughly. This sand component is the most critical factor, and without it, the plants will not thrive. The soil should be planted on a mound, with the plants spaced six inches apart.

  2. Before planting, the roots can be soaked in water for an hour. When planting, ensure the crowns are placed slightly above the soil level, where you can see a small root emerging.

  3. When planting in towers, it is essential to mix in at least 30% sand into the soil thoroughly. To prevent the drainage holes from getting clogged, add stones or a screen mesh at the bottom, then top it off with the mixed soil. Pack each layer tightly, and create a cone-shaped mound higher than the drainage holes. You can trim the roots to 2.5 inches in length and plant them into the cones you have created, ensuring a small root is visible when placed.

By following these guidelines, you can create the ideal growing conditions for your strawberry plants. The sand-enriched soil, proper planting techniques, and attention to drainage will all contribute to the overall health and productivity of your strawberry patch.

Remember, we want to ensure your complete satisfaction, which is why we always send extra plants. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you in your strawberry growing journey.
