Beretta's Optima-Choke HP tubes are designed to withstand the heat and demands of competition. Manufactured from high-strength steel and finished with a nickel-alloy coating, these chokes offer exceptional corrosion resistance and the ability to handle the rigors of steel shot. The Optima-Choke HP tubes are fully interchangeable on all Beretta barrels that are threaded for this system.

The Optima-Choke HP was introduced in 2008 with the launch of the SV-10 Perennia and Prevail Series Over&Under guns. This third Optima-Bore choke configuration was developed to address the considerable stresses imposed by the extended use of high-performance steel and metal alloy non-toxic shot. The Optima-Choke Plus design, with its thicker choke tube wall, was a step in the right direction, but the Optima-Choke HP system took it a step further.

One of the key objectives in designing the Optima-Choke HP (OB HP) system was to create a choke tube that could withstand the rigors of heavy steel/metal alloy shot payloads while retaining the weight-saving and handling characteristics of the lighter Optima-Choke barrel contour. The result is a choke tube system that is ideally suited to meet the needs of today's shooters.

The Optima-Choke HP chokes are manufactured from high-strength steel and finished with a nickel-alloy coating, ensuring significant corrosion resistance and the ability to withstand the demands of steel shot. These chokes feature a choke system that locates the threaded portion of the tube a nominal 10 mm (.394 inch) further back from the muzzle end, compared to the Optima-Choke system. This, combined with an increased wall thickness at the muzzle end where the greatest degree of choke constriction and stress occurs, allows the Optima-Choke HP to deliver the desired performance without the need for a larger barrel contour.

Each Beretta choke tube is engraved with important details, including the manufacturer (PB), the constriction (F, IM, M, IC, CYL), the approval for steel shot use (SP), and the choke type (Optima-Choke, Optima-Choke Plus, Optima-Choke HP).
